Terror Mob / We Are Carnivorz / Soul Syndicate / Calm
Like A Riot
Evolution (57 - 59 Lowesmoor, Worcester, WR1 2RS)

|
Hailing
from Hereford, Soul Syndicate do urban music,
but not like anyone else. They fuse hip hop, grime,
roots and dancehall music with conscious rap, sweet
sung vocals and turntablism, Lyrically inspired by
the politics of Public Enemy, the Edutainment style
of KRS ONE and the reality rap of UK life of
Skinnyman and Black Twang, Main MCs Big Daddy Spliff
and HDot MDot aka Hank Marvin give their heart to
the microphone and leave no subject untouched. From
the evils of Gun Crime and the secrecy of the new
world order to living it up in the club on a Friday
Night and the joys of music, they bless every rhythm
with whatever is on their mind, hence the “Soul” in
Soul Syndicate. The “Syndicate” part reflects the
extended family of talented MCs and singers who make
up the collective.
Terror Mob (skeleton-x and killah-d) are the
uk hiphop scences most wanted.A former drum and bass
mc and a garage mc they decided to link up together
around a year ago to start our hiphop career.
We Are Carnivorz - Raised on metal and hip
hop, Adam and Craig have appeared in some prominent
metal groups i.e Fallen Friend, Saitama and Enemo-j
(one of which still goes on now). They have decided
to try there hand at hip hop/Death Rap, and with
there current knowledge of the music industry are
teaming up with Plastic Head distribution, Say No To
Emo records, one of the UK's apparent top hip-hop
producers, Baby J, and friends Cannibal Carl &
Mennis!
Worcesters’Calm Like A Riot are attempting to
annoy the world with their style of funk, thrash and
British hip-hop. With Bass lines straight out of the
‘don’t mess with me’ riff book, guitar so alien to
time and volume that you know it’s meant to be that
way and all set in front of percussion production so
heavy not even He-man could lift it. |

The Brazilians / Rupert & The Robbers
/ Dandelion Killers / Crooked Empire
The Fire Fly (54 Lowesmoor, Worcester, WR1 2SE)

 |
This
will be the second gig for the Brazilians in
as many hours. Headlining this time, with the
bombastically powerful, fresh, fun, and diverse
indie offerings this Worcester band are a big name
in the making.
From just over the river in Ross come the almighty
Dandelion Killers. NME say "Classic British
pop born out of 'Lola'-era Kinks, this lot are a
cracking slice of quintessential psychedelic indie"
Formed in early 2008, Rupert and The Robbers
hail from Hereford. Their music is an eclectic blend
of US indie like The Shins and Vampire Weekend with
UK indie like Good Shoes and The Smiths.
Also on the bill are`Worcester band Crooked
Empire (previously known as Parker) .
Toxic Pete seems to sum the band up perfectly "this
band rock and that’s for sure but, there’s a lot
more to this band than just ’rock’ for rock’s sake –
They have a something at their heart that’s
seemingly a churnin’ urn of burnin’ blues that’s all
wrapped up in a protective layer of soulful rock".

Stretch Records Presents ...
The Dastards / Cobweb Dilemmas / Jazica
The Pheasant (25 New Street, Worcester, WR1 2DP)
  |
Formed in 2005 The Dastards are in the new
vanguard of bands that just don’t really fit into
any of the typical genres. They combine interesting
lyrics with intricate guitar patterns and
distinctive vocals. Cobweb Dilemmas are a
great band who some people say they sound like
Debbie Harry ring-leading a fight between Talking
Heads and Gang Of Four whilst Patti Smith holds
their coats. Jazica are an organic mix of
bright melodies and original riffs. Described as the
ideal soundtrack for any traveller, their set will
take you through the unheard-of and leave you
singing along to their catchy lyrics. With
considerate use of synths and drum machines, they
manage to combine electro noise with acoustic
ambience to create an irresistible sound.
