Rat Productions presents…part 1
Matt Woozey & Strange Rain / Anna Rice
Corda / The Zo Show
The Pheasant (25 New Street, Worcester, WR1 2DP)

|
Having performed together for over four years with
Taxi and Violet Iris, Matt Woosey and James E
Williams are back together as Matt Woosey & The
Strange Rain working on music that is close to
their hearts and desires as musicians. A common love
of blues based rock music is the driving force
behind their new song writing project.
http://www.myspace.com/mattwooseyandthestrangerain
Corda’s sound has been described as 'ambient
folk influenced acoustic, with moody bass & haunting
vocal harmonies'.
http://www.myspace.com/cordamusic
"Anna Rice has a purity of voice reminiscent
to freshly melted glacier water from the highest
mountain peak - quite amazing." Quite a compliment
but when you listen to Anna Rice sing you will
understand why this lady lives for her music. Anna
is now a professional performer, but the intense
workload hasn’t stopped her from writing or
performing her own music based on her own
experiences and/or feelings. Therefore it is of no
surprise that Anna Rice is currently one of the most
sought after solo performers in the
Midlands. http://www.myspace.com/annarice
The
Zo Show clearly intends to catch your eyes and
your ears by delivering a performance that scales
from the raunchiest of modern soul to softest and
most melodic of country ballads.
Nik, like Zoe has an amazing musical pedigree and
his exquisite country rock guitar picking style is
highly valued by Clive John who selected Nik above
many others to join the “Man in Black” tour
featuring. Nik has also been the front man for many
other bands including The Steaming Heads who ruled
the local Country/Cajun circuit up until the band
called it a day in late 2006. So miss The Zo Show
and you’ll be sorry, because this dynamic duo
intends not leave you wanting that very special Zo
Show wow factor! http://www.myspace.com/thezoshowontour

Highway 5 /
Babajack / The Arquettes / Ten Fifty
/ The Abbot Of Reason
The Pheasant (25 New Street, Worcester, WR1 2DP)

 |
Highway 5 are a classic power trio with a twist,
mixing rock, alt-country, blues and even a little
funk to deliver powerful and thought provoking
original songs about the trials and tribulations of
modern life.
http://www.myspace.com/highway5music
The Arquettes are
currently working on their latest CD to be release
in the autumn and their appearance at the Worcester
Music Festival will include many new songs from the
album plus loads of their favourite “fun choones”.
The Arquettes are certainly a band you won’t want to
pass-by.
http://www.myspace.com/thearquettesuk
The name Ten Fifty comes from the New York
Police Department code "10-50" meaning "Disorderly
person/group or noise". Whether you think the band
Ten Fifty are “disorderly”; well that’s your call,
but they’ll prove you wrong – because they are
pretty damn good!
Ten Fifty are based in Worcester and are rapidly
becoming the City’s most dynamic rock performers

BabaJack was born out of blues guitars and roots
drumming. Becky and Trev started playing together
six years ago, a steel guitar and an African djembe,
in a chilly old barn just off the A44. Since then
Trev (the woodman) built a shed at the end of the
garden - warmer sound anyway... As Trev always says,
“you can't play the blues on a full stomach, or it
seems in a warm place..!” Soon after BabaJack took
to the road, putting African drums to old country
blues and gospel favourites to create a powerful
acoustic sound. Trev took a chance on a Dobro Hound
Dog (resonator guitar) and Becky took up the
acoustic bass to add to the sound and as time's gone
by, they have been writing new material of their
own. BabaJack are currently gigging locally and
working hard writing their debut album called “The
Maker” to be released later in 2008.

The Abbot of Unreason planted his roots in the
turbulent years of rock and folk music of the 1970's
where he enjoyed some moderate success as a member
of the rock band Thunderbox and later the new-wave
band The Aviators.
As a support act for local classic rock bands or as
a regular performer at traditional folk clubs across
the Midlands, The Abbot of Unreason has a
growing base of appreciative listeners always keen
to hear what little gem he will (un)cover next. An
old fool may be, but the reaction from the audience
when the Abbot of Unreason revives those long,
forgotten songs is always very positive and
pleasing. See what you think…

George Cowley Experience /
Fine and Shandy
The Horn and Trumpet (12 Angel Street,
WR1 3QT)

|
The George Cowley Experience began life in the
summer of 2001 and describe themselves as a
collective rather than a band with a set number of
members, something like a So Solid Crew only based
in Worcestershire.
Taking their name from famed local man of letters,
George Cowley, the band produce their own
brand of surreal folk rock music, often taking a wry
look at everyday events.
Influences are Bob Dylan, Screaming Lord Sutch and
George Cowley himself, George now being both a
friend and fan of the band. The band came into being
as a result of regular appearances at Worcester's
Marr's Bar Jam Nights, soon attracting a cult
following. Their music is often irreverent and
always heartfelt, the lyrical content often
exploring the everyday via the surrealistic.
